I've shared my love of Macklemore with you before. After first hearing him a year or so ago, I've been hooked. (Anyone who has seen me singing "Can't Stop Us" on the top of my lungs in my car can attest to this). Rocking out in the car aside, I just got the chance to check out their performance of "Same Love" at last night's Grammy Awards and all I can say is wow.
Sorry, Beyonce, Jay-Z, and everyone else who performed, but Macklemore and Ryan Lewis annihilated you. Although I am sure there are many who preferred the sexy dancing or intricate set designs, Macklemore's performance was simply stunning, powerful, and honestly made me cry. Not to mention that the entire song is dedicated to freedom and human rights. Bravo, Macklemore, bravo.
I'm so happy that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis received FOUR Grammys last night for Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Album. I can only hope this means that more listeners will discover them and their amazing music.
